The Yoga Education Society (YES) was created in 1999 as an umbrella organization to support teacher training in Nashville. Its main goals are to educate the public about yoga, dispelling negative myths and promoting awareness of benefits; and to support excellence in teacher education. After a relatively dormant period, YES is now working with The Yoga School to develop a 240-hour, Yoga Alliance-approved teacher certification program for Nashville-area instructors, projected to begin January 2006.
